Saint Augustine’s Church is much more than an historic building. It is a living place of Christian worship, prayer, welcome and community, standing in the heart of Derry/Londonderry and serving local people and visitors from near and far.


The church and its historic site form an important part of the Christian and built heritage of our city. Generations have worshipped here, celebrated important moments in their lives here and found a place of peace, reflection and prayer within its walls. Today, Saint Augustine’s continues that tradition while also welcoming visitors who come to discover the history, architecture and heritage of this very special place.


Maintaining an historic church, however, brings significant and ongoing costs. The preservation of the building and grounds requires continual care, from routine maintenance and repairs to the conservation of its historic fabric and features. Alongside this, there are the everyday costs involved in keeping Saint Augustine’s safe, welcoming and open for worshippers, visitors and the wider community.


As a church, we are committed to protecting this important heritage while ensuring that Saint Augustine’s remains first and foremost a living and active place of worship and ministry.
