‘The people walking in darkness have seen a great light’

The Annual Inter Denominational ' Walk in the Light" event takes place on Sunday 1st November 2026 beginning at 7.30pm.

It is a spiritual and community-focused twilight pilgrimage for peace and hope. The event involves walking to several city centre churches, reflecting on themes of remembrance, hope, and peace.

The walk will take approximately 1 hour starting at the St. Columba’s Church, Long Tower then proceeding via Bishops Gate to First Derry Presbyterian Church on Magazine Street.

From Magazine Street onto Butcher Street through the Diamond up Bishop Street to St. Columb’s Cathedral.

The walk will then continue to its final destination, The Salvation Army Church on Carlisle Road. Walkers will proceed via Pump Street, Ferryquay Street, through Ferryquay Gate and onto Carlisle Road.

Refreshments will be provided at The Salvation Army Church.
